Are humidifier safe for a tarantula?

Is humidifier safe for tarantula

No, spiders do not require a humidifier to live. Most spiders prefer high humidity levels and a humidifier can kill spiders by releasing an excessive mist into the air. A humidifier can cause death tarantula’s with to much wetness that causes them to die of hypothermia. The type of bugs that might be killed include ants, spiders, centipedes, and ticks.

The temperature of the mist produced by a humidifier is usually less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, which prevents people from being burned when they contact it. Humidifiers kill bugs in two ways, either by suffocating them because the humidity level in the air is too high for them to breathe or by using the heat from the machine to raise the temperature of their bodies above that which they can survive.

How does a humidifier cause spiders to die?

A humidifier also kills spiders by dehydrating them through vaporization. When a bug comes into contact with mist produced by a humidifier, there is an osmotic shift in their cells’ water content. This shift causes cytolysis to occur as water leaves the bug’s cells and enters the surrounding mist. This causes an increase in the bug’s metabolic rate and can cause tissue damage within ten minutes.
